What We Believe
We hold to the basic tenets of Christian Orthodoxy as articulated in the Apostles’ and the Nicene Creeds and the recent summaries of Christian Doctrine as formulated in the Lausanne Covenant & Cape Town Commitment.
We believe that there is only one true God who is perfectly holy, loving, truthful, and just. He is the Creator, Redeemer, and eternal King. He is eternally existing and revealed in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
We believe the Bible is the inspired, authoritative, and infallible Word of God in the original writing. Scripture, the Old and New Testament, is the supreme and final authority in faith and life. Scripture is useful to believers for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness.
We believe that God created men and women in His image for the purpose of knowing and enjoying Him. However, we willfully rebelled against Him and rejected our original purpose to glorify Him. This resulted in sickness, death, and judgment entering the world. To this day, creation continues to experience the consequences of sin and Satan.
We believe that Jesus Christ, God’s one and only Son, was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is God’s anointed One. We believe in the deity of Christ, His sinless life, miracles, vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection and His ascension to the right hand of the Father. Through His death and resurrection, He won the decisive victory over Satan, death, and all evil powers, liberating us from their power and fear. Through His death and resurrection, God ultimately reconciled believers to Himself.
We believe that men and women were created in God’s image but were separated from Him by sin. Only through faith, trusting in Christ alone for salvation, are we reconciled to God. We believe that we are saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ made possible through His shed blood. We believe that those who submit to His Lordship through repentance, belief, and obedience to Jesus are restored to right relationship with the Father and receive the gift of adoption into God’s kingdom as His children. We believe that Christ’s victory on the cross provides believers freedom from the power of sin and death.
We believe in the New Covenant and the New Command (1 John 3:23-24), that doctrine without love results in religion and religious duty. The New covenant, that we are bought and paid for by the blood of Jesus and receive salvation by faith in Jesus through grace alone; and the New Command, that we are to love others as Jesus loves us (John 13:34-35).
We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts, heals, fills, and continually sanctifies, enabling Christians to live a lifestyle of holiness, and to minister to others supernaturally. We believe the baptism of the Holy Spirit, outlined in Acts 1:4-8 and 2:4, is a gift available for all believers so that they might fulfill the Great Commission to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with power and authority.
We believe the Church is made of those who believe in Jesus Christ and live according to His commandments. The purpose of the Church is to advance God’s kingdom through discipling the nations, baptizing and teaching them to become like Jesus, undoing the works of the enemy, and preaching the truth and love of God. We believe the Lord Jesus Christ commanded all believers to make disciples of every nation, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and to teach all that Christ had commanded.
We believe that God’s kingdom is ever-increasing and that, at the end of time, Jesus Christ will visibly return to rule and reign with His bride, the Church.
We believe heaven and hell exist. Those who are lost will be sent to eternal death. Those who are saved through Jesus Christ will have eternal life.
